Sweeny, Wingate & Barrow, P.A. attorneys Mark V. Gende and John E. Tyler co-authored an article which was published in the Winter 2018 edition of Professional Liability Defense Quarterly (PLDQ).

“Correctional Setting Health Care: Variant Standards of Care?” addresses misunderstandings that may arise regarding the standard of care that applies to services provided by healthcare professionals within a correctional facility. The article seeks to make clear the relationship between the deliberate indifference standard (applicable to federal Section 1983 claims by prisoners) and the reasonable care standard of state medical negligence claims.
